How Fast Time Flies

Here I am - after a long month and a bit after my last post. I haven't forgotten about you or Kazza's Happiness. But goodness me have I been busy (as have you - if Christmas has anything to do with it)

I am happy that the Christmas Silly Season is pretty much over. I love love LOVE Christmas, however this year has felt like Christmas has been a 'chore'. I am normally so prepared months in advance with all the lay-by's paid off well before the week of Christmas and present purchased and organised, Christmas day lunch sorted and planned aswell.

Not this year. As a member of the boys P&C, I always seem to stay at the school well after drop off and the day that you had planned is out the window, then the kids finished school and the normal things that go with school days but for some reason it was more busier than normal. The Christmas shopping and catch up with friends and family because you know you wont have a chance between then and now.

The main reason why I have been absent is because a bundle of Happiness, as in the baby kind is due in June/early July next year. And morning sickness in the evening is the pits. Its only just starting to wear off now. It was all planned and we are all pretty stocked about what is going to happen.

In the meantime, thanks for sticking by me and not forgetting me. I promise that Kazza's Happiness will be bigger and better in 2011 (well, until June anyway)

Obsessed much?

This is Powderfinger - my favourite band in the whole world. It took a bit of effort to get a ticket after being sold out within minutes of them going on sale. But I got myself one and I am so very excited to see them tonight.

I was and still am (safely) obsessed with the lead singer Bernard. It all started in year 8 at high school - I even remember having my best friend Rita, (who I am going to the concert tonight with) took a photo of me standing next to a huge poster and we made it look like it was me meeting Bernard in person. I quickly got over that photo and moved on to 'stalking' the band when they did gigs at all ages venues and concerts. I can go on and on - but I won't because we all had crazy obsessions when we were in school - I am happy to say that I no longer take photos of me with posters or write 'I love Bernard' all over desks and pencil cases.

What I will be doing tonight is singing along to every single song and enjoy every single minute of the night!!

I'm pretty sure that I have got my motivation back. - its good to find your motivation when you thought that you have lost it, isn't it?

Up and at 'em

It's been about a month or more since I have sat down to sew, sat down to create, glue or do anything to do with craft or fabric. *Insert sad face here*

I am happy to say that I have found my 'mojo' along with a little corner in my garage. Well- it was little, until I unpacked all my boxes of goodies.

I'm getting busy on some creations - some new - some old. Can't wait to show you!

Something New

They say moving house is one of the most stressful things that you can do in your life. Whoever said that is one smart person. Everyone has a story about moving house. Things go wrong, mirrors and photo frames crack, the kids go feral and in my case my husband stresses out in a MAJOR way. I think this week I was close to a divorce from my Mr Stress Head. He's a stress head at the best of times, but this week - boy oh boy!! At the moment, I am meant to be unpacking and sorting but the thought of it all is all a bit to scary for me ;)

On a happier note, in between cleaning, unpacking and reconnecting power we picked mulberries. I loved picking mulberries when I was a kid and it seems that my boys loved it aswell. My wonderful friend and her daughter 're introduced' me (and my boys) to the fun of it all. We went back to the house and had ourselves a Mulberry Feast. We are off to the mulberry tree again tomorrow to fill a jar to give it to a friend for her birthday present.

Thats me sitting in the corner, moments before I found out that our power was disconnected. See, things go wrong.

What A Week

First of all, my boys had their first Footy Trophy Presentation Day last week. They were so excited to get their first trophy and team photos. Here's a photo if them after they have got their trophy's. Here are the future NRL superstars, although I am bias!!

The weather however, wasn't our friend (again) this week. It has been raining and windy for the last week. The washing couldn't get dry outside so I had all our underwear, school uniforms and work uniforms hanging around the top of doors and in the bathroom. We are due to move house this week and have I packed everything? Hmmm, not really. My husband did make the comment that I have FAR to many boxes marked 'Kazza's Happiness'. Although all his fishing and camping gear may give Kazza's Happiness boxes a run for their money.
I haven't done many projects this week, due to the mini pool in my rumpus, a leaky roof and packing a house. But I am hoping to get back into as soon as this move (and the cleaning) is over. I have had recieved a few supplies in the mail of late and can't wait to create things with them.
I also have some sad news to tell. Due to people and things out of my control - Woodhilll Wonderland - the garage mini market has been postponed until a later date. Fear not though, it will be on - I will let you know details when I do.

I've been a busy little bee over the last couple of weeks. It doesn't look like much, but I have a huge tub full of goodies. Being creative and packing a house is all hard work. We are moving house, only down the road, but the thought of packing a house sort of scares me. Knowing me, I will be in a frantic state about 2 days before the moving date. All the while, I am trying to sew, glue, cut and trace wonderful things for Woodhill Wonderland Garage Market. Which I am really excited about. I haven't done a mini market for a long while, so fingers crossed it all goes well. Me and my friend Rita (who is hosting Woodhill Wonderland) is going for a trip into Reverse Garbage http://www.reversegarbage.com.au/ (again) to stock up on some tags and fabric although I am sure that we will find plenty of other things to snap up aswell.

Here's some things I've created for Woodhill Wonderland Garage Market. I also have some other creations 'up my sleeve'.

If you live on the southside of Brisbane, come check out Woodhill Wonderland Garage Market. 44 Woodhill Ave, Coorparoo - 9am - 3pm Sunday 24th October 2010

Woodhill Wonderland

I have a friend, Rita. She is pretty bloody awesome. So awesome in fact that she had a GREAT idea. A Garage Market - not just your normal garage sale, a Wonderland (in her garage). She and some of her friends will be selling heaps of goodies and I will be there aswell.

I have started creating new things and my creative juices have been flowing at a rapid speed. Its school holidays at the moment and my boys are keeping me very busy so far. I am not sure how I am going to go during the Christmas holidays, maybe a small holiday might to the trick.

If you live on the Southside of Brisbane, come check out Woodhill Wonderland, the Garage Market.

Here is what I have been working on this weekend and they aren't what you think they are.

Yes, they are owls, but what are they really? I can't wait to show you the finished product. I have been working on some Christmas buntings aswell. You know how much I love buntings.

I finally got myself to the flea markets today. I am so glad I went, I found some great finds. 4 Better Homes and Gardens magazines for $2 they are all Christmas editions. I love love love Christmas and this year Christmas is at our house - its going to be heaps of fun. I also got Monopoly for $4, I was pretty chuffed about that aswell.

Schools Out, Sewing In

September school holidays 2010 has begun.

I'm not looking forward to these holidays as we have to move house the week the kids go back to school, so the holidays will involve alot of packing *sigh*

This is what I have been up to so far. Creating aprons, finishing burp cloths and sewing pillows.

I had inspiration this week. I love it when you get inspired by things and people. I made these buntings for a friend of mine. They are moving from Brisbane to Townsville. I got inspiried by the new Julia Roberts movie movie, Eat Love Pray. These buntings will look lovely in their new house.

Just thought that I would share my favourite t-shirt with you. My dream is to go to New York. I think that I have secretly lived in NY in a past life. I watch all the movies and tv shows that are set in New York. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Gossip Girl, The City, Sex and The City, Seinfield. The list can go on and on.
I will get there one day, I truly believe it. Until then, I am very content and happy with my life here in Brisbane with my family, friends and all the crazy stuff in between.
Nothing happens unless first we dream.

A New Obsession

Do you ever have one of those weeks where all you want to do is sit back, chill and create? Well that was my plan for the 'week that was'. But for some reason I got nothing I wanted to do done. Kids being sick, work, husband duties, mother duties, house inspections and a small social life consumed my week.

I finally had time to create Happiness today. I was a tiny bit happy that today was rainy, so a day at home inside, was had. I made buntings, I love making buntings at the moment. I enjoy making different combinations with colours and the fabric, anything goes really. I am hoping to get REALLY, whoops, I mean - I plan to be EXTREMELY busy making and creating heaps of Kazza's Happiness this week. I want to do a few market stalls before the end of the year (its really not that far away (insert panic face here)

Here's to a happy and productive week ahead for everyone :)

Bunting Fever

I made this for a crazy NRL footy supporter. She's clearly a Queenslander fan. Hope she likes it. My husband J and my boys were pretty happy with it aswell.

I like doing buntings. Their simple, can heaps of fun and your imagination can go wild on the designs and the letters you want to put on them.

I believe I have 'Bunting Fever'.

Made the trip

If you live in Brisbane and is anything like me and LOVE to make, create and imagine. Then it is well worth the trip to http://www.reversegarbage.com.au/.

Reverse Garbage is a not-for-profit workers' co-operative that collects high quality industrial discards, diverting them from landfill to sell them at low cost to the general public.

The only bad thing I did was not bring my car, I caught the train. So had to buy things that could fit into my green bag. I bought some carpet squares for 50cents each and some whiteboard felt (for now)

I had a lovely day with a very dear friend of mine re discovering West End and discovering the West End Markets. If your after fruit and veggies, vegetarian foods, and some retro/vintage clothing, then West End is for you. I also checked out http://nook-shop.blogspot.com/ and spotted some lovely handmade items from my favourite blogs! Nook is totally worth a look aswell. Oh and finally when your hungry from walking around and exploring what West End has to offer, have lunch at Urge Burger..Yum yum yum!!

I am currently working on buntings. I made a NSW bunting for a friend of mine and her mum wants a Queenslander one. Its looking good. Although I am a little bias, I am a Queenslander after all. I am planning to have it done by the end of tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

Loves a Bargain (and gift)

Look what I got at the markets on Sunday. I love the craft book. I am going to put the pillow cases to good use. My favourite market bargain is the fabric. I am thinking a baby blanket with soft fleece on the back perhaps.

Oh and this. It was a birthday present from my brother. I can't wait to get started on some projects. I've heard Amy Butler is awesome.

Hugs and Kisses

This is my big (Awesome) brother, Steven. He lives in the ACT but comes up to visit about twice a year. I love him to bits. I have a sneaky suspicion that the boys love him more because to save on postage, he buys the boys birthday presents when he visits. So to them, its Christmas when Uncle Steve comes to town :)

Something else that is awsome is what Kellie http://kelliechristie.blogspot.com/ custom made for my sister's 21st birthday present. Nicole loves snails ALOT so this was a great surpise.

Happy People

My, my. I have only just realised how hard it is to blog once a week. Hopefully, I will get better and blog more often. I do love reading other people's blogs than blogging myself. We live and learn though right?

I am really loving my 'happiness' at the moment. I have a wonderful job that enables me to be home for the kids in the afternoon and night, Mr Happiness is back at work, have been happily married for a year (but been together for nearly 10)..Wow that is a long time isn't it? And I have been getting really excited and my brain is always thinking of new ideas and things to make and create. Its also great because I have time during the day to do Kazza's Happiness.

A dear friend I used to work with, lets call her Miss C gave me 3 car seat covers and told me to 'make and create'. Sew, create and make I did. Miss C loved them. The photos are what I made with her materials. Oh and for the record, I am a Queenslander not NSW fan ;)
Miss C was also having a Christmas in July party and I did the decorations. Lets just say, she was one HAPPY customer. I couldn't go to the party but I have been told lots of photos were taken and when I get them I shall show you all.

I am also expecting a surprise in the mail this week. Its my sisters 21st birthday on Wednesday and I got her THE best present EVER!! Handmade of course. I cant wait to give it to her, Kellie Christie made it, so its bound to be an EXCELLENT present.

Footy Fever

We have just had the most wonderful (and exciting) weekend.

We rent and the owner is selling 'our' house in a few months time. The owner wanted to put in a new kitchen, but for him to do this, we can't be in the house. So.....he kindly sent us up to Coolum at the Sunshine Coast for the weekend. He didn't have to send us all the way up there, but hey, we wern't going to say no. On Thursday I was listening to the radio and heard them say that the QLD State of Origin team stay at Coolum while they are 'in camp'. With a little bit of investigating and surfing the net, we found out that the team stays at the Coolum Hyatt Resort (which is extremely fancy) and was only a 10min drive from where we were staying.

If you don't know me (or my family) we are pretty big NRL footy fans. We pretty much love everything about the game. Our favourite team is the Brisbane Broncos, the boys play footy for their club and are constantly out the back yelling and screaming playing the game. So to go to the QLD team training is a huge deal.

We went, we saw, we loved. The boys got totally star struck by all the players that they met. It was Caleb's birthday earlier in the week and he got a camera. I had strict instructions to 'take lots of photos' when the players were signing their hats. Caleb hasn't taken his hat off since we have come home. I got told that I was 'the best mum in the world'.

I have to admit that I had a great time aswell. I got a photo with my favourite player, Dave Taylor. You can't half tell how excited I was to meet him. I think I was more excited than the kids :)

Cupcakes & School Holidays

School holidays have begun, I think I am looking forward to it. Mr Happiness looks like he will be finally working (after being unemployed for almost 2 months) in the second week of the holidays. It works out well because I only work 2 and a half a day and I'm home by 9am most mornings. Given Mr H will be at work and vacation care hardly seems worth the money. My awesome boss is good enough to let me take the boys to work with me. Mind you they will be watching Foxtel, colouring in and eating toast and Weetbix every morning. To me, that sounds like great fun. I do have lots of play dates and all the 'usual' school holidays fun things planned to keep as all busy.

Speaking of busy, I have been making cupcakes and more cupcakes. Why not I say?
I have also been making these. Larger fabric rolls. I finally sorted my diary and set aside some dates for some local markets I want to do before Christmas. I also have some great friends that love what I do and want me to do some custom orders for them. Thank goodness for friends :)

Oh and I won these awesome pencils from Pink Lizzy Sews/ MissIsa. I love them.

Always in Our Thoughts, Forever in our hearts

This is my Aunty Irene.

Aunty Irene sadly passed last week.

God took you in his loving arms;

He saw you needed rest;

His garden must be beautiful;

For he only takes the best.

Happiness for the hair

This is what my Saturday entailed...hair clips. I am finally getting my act together and starting to think of new and exciting things I can create and make. I am also thinking dates as to where my next markets will be. I miss doing the markets, but as we all know its hard work, but totally worth it in the end.

With my hair clips finished (for the moment) I am now moving onto measuring and cutting out fabric for my fabric rolls. I can't wait to use up some of my fabric I have had in a box for a couple of months. Being the multi task lady that I am, I shall be measuring and cutting while watching the mighty Brisbane Broncos will against South Sydney Bunnies. Aren't I clever?
