Happy People

My, my. I have only just realised how hard it is to blog once a week. Hopefully, I will get better and blog more often. I do love reading other people's blogs than blogging myself. We live and learn though right?

I am really loving my 'happiness' at the moment. I have a wonderful job that enables me to be home for the kids in the afternoon and night, Mr Happiness is back at work, have been happily married for a year (but been together for nearly 10)..Wow that is a long time isn't it? And I have been getting really excited and my brain is always thinking of new ideas and things to make and create. Its also great because I have time during the day to do Kazza's Happiness.

A dear friend I used to work with, lets call her Miss C gave me 3 car seat covers and told me to 'make and create'. Sew, create and make I did. Miss C loved them. The photos are what I made with her materials. Oh and for the record, I am a Queenslander not NSW fan ;)
Miss C was also having a Christmas in July party and I did the decorations. Lets just say, she was one HAPPY customer. I couldn't go to the party but I have been told lots of photos were taken and when I get them I shall show you all.

I am also expecting a surprise in the mail this week. Its my sisters 21st birthday on Wednesday and I got her THE best present EVER!! Handmade of course. I cant wait to give it to her, Kellie Christie made it, so its bound to be an EXCELLENT present.

Footy Fever

We have just had the most wonderful (and exciting) weekend.

We rent and the owner is selling 'our' house in a few months time. The owner wanted to put in a new kitchen, but for him to do this, we can't be in the house. So.....he kindly sent us up to Coolum at the Sunshine Coast for the weekend. He didn't have to send us all the way up there, but hey, we wern't going to say no. On Thursday I was listening to the radio and heard them say that the QLD State of Origin team stay at Coolum while they are 'in camp'. With a little bit of investigating and surfing the net, we found out that the team stays at the Coolum Hyatt Resort (which is extremely fancy) and was only a 10min drive from where we were staying.

If you don't know me (or my family) we are pretty big NRL footy fans. We pretty much love everything about the game. Our favourite team is the Brisbane Broncos, the boys play footy for their club and are constantly out the back yelling and screaming playing the game. So to go to the QLD team training is a huge deal.

We went, we saw, we loved. The boys got totally star struck by all the players that they met. It was Caleb's birthday earlier in the week and he got a camera. I had strict instructions to 'take lots of photos' when the players were signing their hats. Caleb hasn't taken his hat off since we have come home. I got told that I was 'the best mum in the world'.

I have to admit that I had a great time aswell. I got a photo with my favourite player, Dave Taylor. You can't half tell how excited I was to meet him. I think I was more excited than the kids :)

Cupcakes & School Holidays

School holidays have begun, I think I am looking forward to it. Mr Happiness looks like he will be finally working (after being unemployed for almost 2 months) in the second week of the holidays. It works out well because I only work 2 and a half a day and I'm home by 9am most mornings. Given Mr H will be at work and vacation care hardly seems worth the money. My awesome boss is good enough to let me take the boys to work with me. Mind you they will be watching Foxtel, colouring in and eating toast and Weetbix every morning. To me, that sounds like great fun. I do have lots of play dates and all the 'usual' school holidays fun things planned to keep as all busy.

Speaking of busy, I have been making cupcakes and more cupcakes. Why not I say?
I have also been making these. Larger fabric rolls. I finally sorted my diary and set aside some dates for some local markets I want to do before Christmas. I also have some great friends that love what I do and want me to do some custom orders for them. Thank goodness for friends :)

Oh and I won these awesome pencils from Pink Lizzy Sews/ MissIsa. I love them.

Always in Our Thoughts, Forever in our hearts

This is my Aunty Irene.

Aunty Irene sadly passed last week.

God took you in his loving arms;

He saw you needed rest;

His garden must be beautiful;

For he only takes the best.

Happiness for the hair

This is what my Saturday entailed...hair clips. I am finally getting my act together and starting to think of new and exciting things I can create and make. I am also thinking dates as to where my next markets will be. I miss doing the markets, but as we all know its hard work, but totally worth it in the end.

With my hair clips finished (for the moment) I am now moving onto measuring and cutting out fabric for my fabric rolls. I can't wait to use up some of my fabric I have had in a box for a couple of months. Being the multi task lady that I am, I shall be measuring and cutting while watching the mighty Brisbane Broncos will against South Sydney Bunnies. Aren't I clever?

Snails

Look what I made! It's another tea pot cosy. I made it for my sister, Nicole. Nicole loves snails. I have no idea why and how she became to love these slimy insects, but snails make her happy and if she wants me to make a tea pot cosy with snails all over it, I shall.

Nicole's reaction to it made me laugh..I think she loves it!

Next? A snail wall hanging..can't wait to get started!

Sunday = Awesome

Today is Sunday. In our family, Sunday's mean football, football, football. My morning was full of footy, but I did get time to go to the markets for an hr or so. I am so happy that Caleb's team played away from home or I wouldn't have gotten these lovely fabric's. My favourite is the one on the bottom. As you may know, I am somewhat of a 'fabric collector'. I love fabric, this week I am determined to make, create and sew lots of things. I have a few ideas already floating around in my head.

I managed to make this this afternoon, I am little disappointed with the denim fabric I used it caught alot onto the other fabric. I am thinking these can be great for kids aswell. I know my eldest, is always losing his pencils and crayons so one of these might be perfect. Lucky I have heaps of fabric to use, so adults and kids fabric rolls will be great to make.

If you have any ideas as to what I can make, create and sew, I would love your suggestions.

Proud Mum Alert

Do you remember having sports day at school? I didn't mind sports day in primary school, until I hit puberty, then I hated it (and the swimming carnival's aswell) For me, sports day in high school was an excuse to stay at home. I am not very co- ordinated at playing sports, that and the fact that I have boobs, they sorta make some sports difficult. Know what I'm saying?

My boys had their sports day yesterday. Ethan loves sports, any sort of sport he loves it. He's one of those kids that will stay in the back yard all day and just kick a ball over and over and shot hoops until he gets 20 dunks in a row. Caleb, he loves sports aswell, but unfortunately, he has my lack of co-ordination when it comes to sports, although he is loves playing footy. Caleb does better in the classroom and likes staying inside colouring, playing or watching a movie.

Anyway, Ethan got an Age Champion (6 yrs) medal. I wasn't sure who was more excited me or him. I was at the presentation and they called his name and I turned into a crazy mum, yelling and cheering, he was just sitting there, because he wasn't sure if it was him or not. He couldn't wipe that smile off his face for the rest of the assembly and the rest of the day no doubt. Now all I have to do is get him to love reading as much as he loves sports and we have a winner!!

Been a while

It's been a while since I have blogged. Funny thing is, I read heaps of other people's blogs and totally forget about updating my own.

So, what have I been up to? Well, I have a new facebook page. I created a group one, but I wasn't able to upload photos to an album, so I created another one, so people can just 'like' it...much easier. Feel free to check me out on Facebook.

I have been working on a custom order/s for a dear friend of mine, Corinne. She says she not creative (but she's a hell of a cook) I finally caught up with her the other week. She had a huge clean out of her house and gave me her old car seat covers, an old scarf that she had accidentally washed in hot water, not cold. Corinne gave me these and told me to 'create, just create'. I have 'created' and can't wait to show her what I have done.

I have also finished on doing a new Kazza's Happiness creation. Wait for it....teapot cosies. I don't drink tea or coffee and have never owned a teapot, but apparently tea pots are all the rave, so I thought I would give making a cosy a go and I did, this is my 'practice' one. What you think?

Corinne and my sister, Nicole will be one of the first people to have them. I can't wait to make heaps and heaps and get back to having a market stall. My sister has a huge obsession with snails (and tea pots) so hers should be pretty easy. Corinne on the other hand, she loves anything...she's easy to please.

So here's to friends that enable you to open yourself up to create something new and exciting.

- Happy Mothers Day

Today is Mothers Day. Mine has been spent watching my boys play football (which is always fun) Caleb's team lost by 2 points and Ethan's team won. Then it was time to chill with a chicken and salad sandwich, check emails (and blog). The Broncos game will be on in about 10 mins, I will cheer my team on. For dinner hubby is making pancakes and icecream. We have a tradition in our family, n special occassions we have pancakes with icecream. Yum Yum.

It is truly said that God can’t be everywhere, thats why they made mother.
So get going and give your mother some gifts, good wishes and pray for her long life.

Happy Birthday Ethan

It was Ethan's birthday yesterday. How fast 6 years go by..it seems like yesterday he was born!

6 years old and many more to come! You know how they say when you cut the cake and if you touch the bottom, you have to kiss the closest girl? Well, I always sit next to my kids when they touch the bottom of the cake, they are my birthday kisses!! :)

Happy Birthday little man!

It all goes with experience

Its beginning to look alot like winter!! I love winter, I am not a huge fan of summer or any season when its hot durning the night and even hotter during the day. I was so excited to go to my winter clothes boxes and get my woollies out. I also am getting a nice collection of beanies aswell :)

Kazza's Happiness was at Ferny Grove Markets last Sunday. It didn't go aswell as I would have liked, but its all experience isn't it? Tomorrow I am having a stall at the Pine Rivers (Lawnton) Salvation Army church. They are having a mini market as thought that I would have a stall. Its a bit rainy today though, hopefully t will clear up by tomorrow morning.

Lately, I have been working on baby nappy covers/rompers/pilchers. I really like the idea of making these. When my boys were little, I thought that they were the best things in summer. I am still fine tuning them, I have about 3 that I have stuffed up, so practise, practise, practise! I have another design/pattern aswell. Hopefully they all go well.

I am also obsessed with going to op shops and buying baby bunny rugs.

Motivation....lost or found???

Don't you hate it when you plan on doing lots and lots of things and never get around to doing them? Or, you do end up getting around to doing them but not until either late at night or when you are meant to be doing something else. I thought having a week with the kids at home on holidays, I would be more motivated, but nope, no motivation here.

Are we crazy to tell ourselves that we can do lots and lots of things, or does my brain get 'excited' easily?

Easter came and went quick didn't it? I have been working on a new project through out the Easter holidays. I am yet to 'fine tune' some things, but all in all, I think they are going to have a permanent spot at Kazza's Happiness. I am also thinking of ideas to use glass bottles, I am hoping that I make lots of 'pieces of art' and they stay with Kazza's Happiness aswell.

If you are in or around the Ferny Grove area on Sunday 11th April (this Sunday) I will be having a market stall at the Ferny Grove Markets (FG train station). Hopefully the weather is better than the last time I was there, and the sun shines bright and lots of people check my stall out.

Keeping with Easter, you can tell by the photos that Ethan was not impressed with his school Easter Bonnet parade. He thought that its silly that a whole bunch of kids walk around in a circle singing songs and wearing a hat...that was his words, nearly word for word. Caleb, however, he loves to sing and dance, so he was as high as a kite (and that was without chocolate) I had to wear Ethan's hat to show what a great job he had done with it. I have come to the conclusion that Easter is NOT a good thing, when your kids wake up at the crack of dawn and start eating chocolate eggs when your in the shower and have no idea how much they have eaten, but know that they have eaten more than enough because they are running around and around. Pity you cant send your kids outside to burn it off at 7am in the morning. Hmm, maybe next year!

A Home Craft Market..Part 2

I had a great time last night. I met some lovely ladies and bought a very funky beanie, this is J my husband posing for the camera. I am happy to say that my pin wheel hair pins were a hit, as were my coasters and pillows. I got asked to bring some of my creations to one of the ladies hair salons. They will help me get Kazza's Happiness out there, spread the love and help with some sales. Thats exciting for me. This is my little table that was kindly set up by Lindy's daughter Sage.

In other news last night, Ethan had his second footy game of the year. Our team won and Ethan got 2 tries. A famous face was there also. One of the Bronco's players nephew is in our team. The poor fella, he couldnt really watch the game because heaps of kids were asking for an autograph off him. But, I guess thats how the cookie crumbles when your an A Grade footy player.

A Home Craft Market

Tonight, I am off to 'Home Craft Market Night' at a friends house. Lindy knows a nice bundle of people that like to create and make lovely things. She was talking to my sister (as my sister loves to do..talk :) Nicole told Lindy that I have Kazza's Happiness, hence my invite. A little 'market' will be set up at Lindy's house. I think its a great idea. I cant wait to see what tonight brings!

I can't believe Easter is next week. I can handle Easter but not 100% sure I can handle the Easter holidays. With my lovely, warm, wonderful yet 'very active' 5 (nearly 6) year old boy Ethan, I think its going to be a challenge. I am very sure the school holidays will be interesting. I think alot of planning and trips to the park is in order. On the topic of Easter..Our school had a family fun night last night, there was an Easter Egg Raffle and Ethan won!!! He was a happy little man indeed.

Here's some things I have been up to. I finally thought of a way to make hair pin pin wheels. I love pin wheels. Its my little obsession at the moment.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend. I am sure I will :)

Bonkers..absolute bonkers

Arh children. I have 2. 2 boys. I have Caleb, who is nearly 8 and Ethan (he's the ones in the photos), who is nearly 6. Being a mum is a wonderful, wonderful thing and love being a mum. Ethan, however, he has a habit on how to push every single button in my body. He is in yr 1 this yr, which is great. He has great teachers, nice school and is a smart little kid. However, nearly every single day at school he gets in trouble for something. It doesn't help that there are 2 little boys in his class that stray Ethan away from making good choices, therefore he gets in trouble. Me and the husband have been over and over with Ethan on how to act, how to make better and right choices etc. But nothing seems to get through to him. BUT, this year Caleb and Ethan has started to pay football. Ethan loves his footy, you give him anything that looks like it can be kicked, then he'll kick it. So, after speaking to his teacher this afternoon, I told him that he is not going to footy training tonight. Oh, did he go off! I have never seen a boy get so angry before. Now, this is the part of being a mum I don't like. Seeing your little boy cry and scream and cry and cry. I was almost crying because I could tell how much this meant to him . But I learnt from my parents that sometimes you just have to be mean.

I am hoping that he has learnt a huge lesson from this and that he will make better choices at school and stop getting into trouble. I will keep you updated.

Market Wrap Up

I had a wonderful morning at the markets yesterday. There was sun, but the rain made an appearance a couple of times. But other than that, a good morning was had. My lovely friends, my sister and my bro in law came down to check it all out, which helped boost my confidence alot. I also got alot of feed back from people (family, friends and strangers) which I have taken on board. So all, in all, a good morning was had.

I have already started on 'the next big thing' for Kazza's Happiness. Lots of surprises to come.

After...

I did it, I went through with it, I was nervous as all hell and stressing a little bit, but I did it. I shaved for a cure. I think I will like having my hair short. One of the reasons why I kept my hair long for so long was for my wedding day and I good my hair looked when it was straighten. But now, I am short. Short, short, short. I feels great, and the feeling that I have for doing it for such a worthy cause and for such a wonderful person makes it even more worth while.

If you ever want to take a challenge and you don't mind losing a bit of hair, Shave For A Cure. I am pretty sure I have raised about $1,000, which is well worth the effort and its great knowing that all money raised is used to help people and families touched by Leukemia.

Before.....

So I get my head shaved tomorrow. One of my friends shaved her head yesterday and she looks great. She said that its such a great change and the feeling you feel is amazing. I cant wait to get rid of my hair, if I wasn't shaving it, my hair would have been cut ages ago, so in a way its going to be good to get rid of y hair, but I am feeling great that I am doing this for a great person that is dearly missed and that makes it all worth while.

In other news, I am hoping it doesn't rain on Sunday for my 'debut' market stall. I think I am all set, although I am stressing a little because I am not sure weather I have enough 'creations', so I am madly sewing just incase for back up. Although I am sure that I will forget something.
